Navi Mumbai was conceived as a metropolitan-scale counter-magnet to alleviate the pressure on the Mumbai metropolitan area. Planned as a polycentric new town, it features a series of nodal concentrations along mass-transport corridors. When fully developed, Navi Mumbai is expected to consist of 25+ townships, accommodating a population of four million people and providing one million jobs. Dronagiri is one of these nodes, being developed by CIDCO. This area is notable for its proximity to a mountain and the sea, as well as the historic Dronagiri Fort and an old church & Beaches.
Jawaharlal Nehru Port, also known as Nhava Sheva, is the largest container port in India. Located to the east of Mumbai in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, this port on the Arabian Sea is accessed via Thane Creek. It plays a crucial role in the country’s maritime transportation system.
